Your question...

Anxiety, confusion, fear, panic

attacks and feelings of not coping.

Anxiety, fear and panic can be debilitating affecting every area of life leaving the sufferer feeling powerless and out of control.

Panic Attacks

Panic attacks can strike out of the blue and be extremely frightening. They can make us feel as though we are going to die or go mad. They are usually accompanied by physical symptoms including; chest tightness/pain, rapid heart rate, dizziness and feeling faint, nauseous, feelings of terror, sweating and very rapid breathing. The symptoms can come on within seconds.

If you are an anxious person, you are more likely to have panic attacks. Being over critical and disapproving of yourself and striving to live up to others expectations of you is common in people with panic attacks.

Emotional difficulties and past and present conflicts may lead to anxiety which can be released through panic attacks. Counselling & psychotherapy can help you to explore the origins of the fear and anxiety. In understanding the processes involved in main taining these feelings, the power motivating the feelings and the need to continue can be reduced.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) can be effective in helping change the negative thought patterns and misinterpretations that are associated with the symptom and feed into the panic.

Feelings of Not Coping, Confusion and Fear

Overwhelming feelings of not coping with a life event or with life generally can feel hopeless and lead to feelings of powerlessness. By understanding the origins of these reactions and feelings and exploring what it all means to the individual, can enable a new perspective and a sense of empowerment, control and freedom leading to change.
