Self Harm

Self harm can be seen as a way of communicating deep hurt and distress which cannot be expressed verbally. It can serve a number of purposes and can often bring a sense of relief from overwhelming, painful feelings such as anger and rage, empti ness, intense sadness, self hate, fear, loneliness and grief.

By talking through painful experiences from the past and the present and working through these overwhelming emotions can lead to more effective ways of expressing feelings and emotions and reduce the need to self harm.
